HC Deb 07 July 1937 vol 326 c334
29. Mr. Simmonds

asked the Under-Secretary of State for Air whether he has decided to provide at the new Elmdon airport the radio-electric services which have been requested of him by the Corporation of Birmingham?

Lieut.-Colonel Muirhead

No decision has yet been reached.

Mr. Simmonds

When will a decision be reached, because the development of this airport, which was initiated at the behest of the Secretary of State, is completely held up?

Lieut.-Colonel Muirhead

I could not give the hon. Member a date. We cannot have an unlimited number of these wireless stations, and I think I am right in saying that 14 other stations have to be considered along with Birmingham.

Mr. Simmonds

Is it not a fact that there is not a single station of this nature in the Midlands?
