HC Deb 01 July 1937 vol 325 c2143
39. Mr. T. Smith

asked the Minister of Health whether he is aware of the lack of suitable housing accommodation in the Depwade rural district of Norfolk; that a family at Burston are by order of the court threatened with eviction if they have not vacated the cottage during the next three weeks; and whether, in view of the fact that there is no chance of their finding another house in the village and that the tenant's wife is ill and not fit to be moved, he will intervene to prevent the eviction taking place until suitable alternative accommodation is provided?

Sir K. Wood

The rural district council have recently submitted proposals for the erection of 185 houses including eight in the parish of Burston. I have no information with regard to the threatened eviction to which the hon. Member refers and no jurisdiction in the matter. I am, however, making inquiries and will communicate further with the hon. Member.
