HC Deb 28 January 1937 vol 319 c1067
59. Mr. E. J. Williams

asked the Minister of Health whether he has considered the representations from the Institute of Chemist-Opticians and other pharmacists as regards National Health Insurance, ophthalmic and optical benefits, in Draft Statutory Rules and Orders, 1936, No. 434; and what action he proposes to take in view of these representations?

Sir K. Wood

The representations which have been made on behalf of the Institute of Chemist-Opticians will be brought to the notice of the approved committee to be set up under the new regulations. This committee is to include representatives of approved societies and organisations of opticians, among which I understand that the Institute of Chemist-Opticians is to be included, and it will be the duty of the committee to determine the qualifications which will entitle opticians to inclusion in a list of those to be recognised for the purposes of ophthalmic benefit.
