HC Deb 27 January 1937 vol 319 cc937-8
44. Mr. Day

asked the Minister of Transport whether he will make representations to the Railway Rates Tribunal for the purpose of seeing whether some concession in the way of cheaper travelling facilities than those now operating can be granted to young persons working in the area of the county of London?

Mr. Hore-Belisha

I have no power to make such representations, but Parliament has authorised the local authorities to apply to the Railway Rates Tribunal for modifications of the fares charged in the London Passenger Transport area or the conditions applicable to such fares.

Mr. Day

What was the result of the representations of the Minister of Labour on the communications made to him on this subject?

Mr. Hore-Belisha

I cannot say.
