§ 58. Mr. Leckieasked the Financial Secretary to the Treasury whether he is aware of the resentment in this country caused by the excessive duties levied by the Customs and Excise Department on Christmas presents from the United States and elsewhere; and whether, as the United States post office make concessions on Christmas and other presents sent from Great Britain by forgoing such charges, he will consider making similar concessions before next Christmas?
