HC Deb 25 January 1937 vol 319 c562
27. Sir Percy Harris (for Mr. Graham White)

asked the Minister of Agriculture whether it is now proposed to discontinue the payment of the wheat subsidy?

Mr. W. S. Morrison

Under the Wheat Act, 1932, deficiency payments would only cease to be payable to registered growers if the ascertained average price of homegrown millable wheat for any cereal year ending on 31st July rose to approximately 10s. a cwt. The average price for the current cereal year to date is appreciably below that figure.
