HC Deb 25 January 1937 vol 319 cc569-70
48. Commander Locker-Lampson

asked the Lord President of the Council whether arrangements will be made for the Coronation of His Majesty the King, although the exclusive privilege of the Church of England, on this occasion, in view of the unity of the nation in this respect, to be supported by other religious bodies who wish to share in the service?

The Lord President of the Council (Mr. Ramsay MacDonald)

This question has already been discussed by the proper authorities, and I would refer my hon. and gallant Friend to a statement by the secretary of the Federal Council of the Evangelical Free Churches which appeared in the Press on Friday last.

Mr. G. Griffiths

Can the Lord President not see his way to give the same invitation to the Salvation Army generals as he has given to the Evangelical Free Church heads?

Mr. MacDonald

Perhaps the hon. Gentleman will put that question down.
