§ 59. Captain Pluggeasked the Secretary of State for War whether there has been a satisfactory number of applications for enlistment under the new scheme for obtaining engineering tradesmen as recruits for the Army?
§ Sir V. WarrenderThe scheme did not come into operation until 31st December, and it is perhaps a little early to expect immediate results. The response so far, however, is not encouraging, and my right hon. Friend can only hope that the sympathetic attitude adopted by the employers and authorities concerned will have the desired effect.
§ Captain PluggeCan my hon. Friend say from which part of the country these recruits are principally obtained?
