HC Deb 20 January 1937 vol 319 c180
19. Mr. Lewis

asked the President of the Board of Trade how long the departmental committee which is investigating the operations of fraudulent vendors of shares is likely to require to complete its investigation?

The Parliamentary Secretary to the Board of Trade (Dr. Burgin)

I am unable to state how long the committee's inquiry will take, but my hon. Friend may rest assured that it will be carried out with all possible expedition.

Mr. Lewis

Is it reasonable to anticipate that the report will be finished in the course of the current year?

Dr. Burgin

The evidence has been commenced to-day.

Mr. Lewis

Yes, but can we expect the report within the limit of the current year?
