HC Deb 25 February 1937 vol 320 c2184
65. Mr. Pethick-Lawrence

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether his attention has been drawn to the jump in prices in certain metals; and whether he proposes to take any steps to acquire for the national Revenue any part of the profits so obtained.?

Mr. Chamberlain

The answer to the first part of the question is in the affirmative. As regards the second part, the hon. Member is aware that it is the invariable practice of Chancellors of the Exchequer to decline to make statements anticipating the Budget.
