HC Deb 25 February 1937 vol 320 cc2162-3
17 and 18. Miss Ward

asked the Minister of Labour (1) when he intends to set up the committee which has been promised to investigate the possibility of granting an annual holiday with pay;

(2) whether he will include on the committee on holidays with pay one or two independent persons, in order that questions of interest material to the principle of annual holidays with pay may be put by someone who represents neither of the interested parties?

Mr. E. Brown

I intend to constitute this committee without delay. I contemplate that its membership should not be confined to representatives of employers and workers.

Miss Ward

Could the right hon. Gentleman give the committee's terms of reference?

Mr. Brown

Not to-day.

Mr. Louis Smith

Does the Minister propose to ask for the report of the committee during the present Session?

Mr. Brown

It is contemplated that the committee will get to work speedily and will complete its labours as early as may be.

Miss Wilkinson

Will there be any women on the committee?

Mr. Brown

I cannot say at the moment.
