HC Deb 25 February 1937 vol 320 cc2174-5
78. Mr. Perkins

asked the Under-Secretary of State for Air at what hour the warning lights on the top of the gasholder near Heston airport are lighted; and whether they are lighted when Q.B.I. conditions are in force at Heston airport?

The Financial Secretary to the War Office (Sir Victor Warrender)

I have been asked to reply. It is the intention that the lights in question shall be in operation during hours of darkness and also during periods of low visibility; they will thus be lighted whenever Q.B.I. conditions are in force. So far they have been in operation only for the purpose of undergoing technical tests and inspection from the ground and the air.

Mr. Perkins

Do I understand from the reply that from to-night onwards they will be alight every night?

Sir V. Warrender

No, not from tonight. They have been lit so far for test purposes.
