Mr. Manderasked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether any appointment as League of Nations High Commissioner for Danzig has now been made; and what steps are being taken to restore to their liberties and rights the Conservatives, Socialists, and Catholics imprisoned contrary to the Constitution?
§ Mr. EdenProfessor Carl Burckhardt, Professor at the University of Zurich, was 1968 appointed League of Nations High Commissioner in Danzig on 18th February for a period of three years. It will be for the new High Commissioner, on taking up his appointment, to take into consideration, on the basis of the report adopted by the Council on 27th January, all matters affecting the maintenance of the Constitution.
