HC Deb 23 February 1937 vol 320 cc1822-3
43. Mr. Westwood

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland the number of women justices of the peace for the county of Stirling, including the two large burghs; what percentage this represents of the total number of justices for the county; and whether he is satisfied with the same?

Mr. Wedderburn

There are 14 women justices of the peace, which is 7½ per cent. of the total number of justices for the county. In each place where the justices courts sit there are one or more women justices available, but if the public interest requires the appointment of further women justices, I have no doubt the Advisory Committee will give careful consideration to the matter.
