HC Deb 23 February 1937 vol 320 cc1801-2
1. Mr. Short

asked the Secretary for Mines whether, since boys aged 14 are employed in coal pits on unsuitable work, sometimes with fatal results, he will take steps to prevent the coalowners continuing this undesirable practice?

The Secretary for Mines (Captain Crookshank)

Some occupations are already barred to boys under a certain age, and when the Royal Commission have made their report and new legisla- tion falls to be introduced, the desirability of imposing further limits on the employment of boys will be carefully considered.
