55. Mr. Mathers (for Mr. R. Gibson)

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland how many births took place in Scotland in asylums within the meaning of the Lunacy (Scotland) Act, 1857, and in institutions within the meaning of the Mental Deficiency and Lunacy (Scotland) Act, 1913, respectively, in 1935 and in 1936; if there is any officer or official in each of these asylums and institutions charged with the duty of seeing that maternity services are provided for maternity cases; and, if not, will he take legislative steps to have such an officer or official appointed in each of these asylums and institutions?
