HC Deb 11 February 1937 vol 320 cc582-3
65. Lieut.-Colonel Heneage

asked the Minister of Health whether he is aware that certain towns discharge crude sewage and trade effluent in the tidal channels of rivers, with the result that there is a danger of sewage being carried down the coast and contaminating seaside towns; and whether he is satisfied that he has sufficient powers to deal with this matter under the present law?

Sir K. Wood

I have received occasional allegations of contamination of the kind suggested in the question. My powers are, I think, sufficient to deal with any substantiated complaint.
