HC Deb 11 February 1937 vol 320 c583
66. Mr. Walkden

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether he is aware that increases of pay which were awarded by the industrial court in October last to certain classes of clerical employés in the War Office, Air Ministry, and dockyard depôts have not yet been paid by any of the three Defence Ministries; and what steps he is taking to ensure that the award in question will be put into full operation?

The Chancellor of the Exchequer (Mr. Chamberlain)

The Departments concerned have received Treasury authority to apply the terms of the awards, and I understand that in certain cases this has already been done. There has been some delay which was unavoidable in dealing with the remaining cases, but Departmental instructions will be issued at an early date to enable them to be dealt with in accordance with the awards.
