HC Deb 10 February 1937 vol 320 cc407-8
70. Mr. Thorne

asked the Secretary of State for War whether he can give the House any information about a window cleaner who was killed at the Royal Military College of Science, at Woolwich Arsenal; whether he is aware that the coroner decided to keep the ladder from which the man fell, and stated at the inquest that every rung was loose and the screws of seven were out; and what amount of compensation will be paid to the widow?

The Financial Secretary to the War Office (Sir Victor Warrender)

The matter is being investigated, and I will communicate with the hon. Member in due course.
