HC Deb 09 February 1937 vol 320 c194
75. Mr. Thurtle

asked the Secretary to the Overseas Trade Department in which countries losses have been incurred in connection with guarantees under the export credits scheme?

Captain Euan Wallace (Secretary, Overseas Trade Department)

Guarantees have been given by the Export Credits Guarantee Department in connection with exports all over the world, and losses have been incurred, at one time or another, in many countries. I think it might be misleading to give a list of the countries, as it would be out of all proportion to the amount of the losses incurred.

Mr. Thurtle

Can the hon. and gallant Gentleman say whether generally all those countries in which losses have been incurred are capitalist countries?

Captain Ramsay

Are there no limits to Communist propaganda in this House?
