HC Deb 08 February 1937 vol 320 cc19-20
32. Mr. Lambert

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether any commitment exists whereby under the Franco-Russian Pact Great Britain could be involved in a European war; and, if none does exist, has this fact been made clear to the French and Russian Governments?

Viscount Cranborne

The answer to the first part of the question is No, Sir. As regards the second part of the question I think the French and Soviet Governments are fully aware of the position.
