§ 44. Mr. Messer
asked the Home Secretary whether he is aware that Captain MacMichael, the honorary director of the Performing and Captive Animals Defence League, has been committed to prison in consequence of his activities in defence of animals; and when he is likely to be released, as he has not been sentenced to any specific term of imprisonment?
§ Sir J. Simon
I find that Captain MacMichael was committed to prison by 1761 the Judge of a County Court for contempt of court. I have no authority to order his release—that is a matter for the Judge.
