HC Deb 03 February 1937 vol 319 c1611
16. Mr. Peat (for Mr. Louis Smith)

asked the First Lord of the Admiralty whether any of the new warships to be constructed by Turkey are being built in this country; and whether the Government can offer facilities for such work to be carried out?

Sir S. Hoare

No Turkish warships are at present under construction in Great Britain, nor am I aware that any recent inquiries for such vessels have been made in this country. His Majesty's Government will be pleased to offer the usual facilities for such work to be carried out in Great Britain on behalf of Turkey, provided that the Turkish requirements are such that no undue interference with our own requirements would be involved.
