asked the Under-Secretary of State for India the number of treaty engagements under which His Majesty's Government in the United Kingdom have undertaken liabilities in which they have agreed to supply armed forces to protect the territories of the Arab rulers of the Persian Gulf?

The Arab States of Koweit, Bahrein, Qatar and the Trucial Coast are in treaty relations with His Majesty's Government, under which they enjoy, in varying degrees, His Majesty's protection.
