HC Deb 03 February 1937 vol 319 cc1584-5
23. Mr. Mathers

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies whether he can give any information on the mission of the Agricultural Adviser to the Colonial Office to East Africa to advise on the problem of overstocking and soil erosion; which territories he will visit; and how wide are his terms of reference?

The Secretary of State for the Colonies (Mr. Ormsby-Gore)

The visit of my Agricultural Adviser to East Africa can hardly be described as a special mission. He is visiting Zanzibar, Tanganyika, 'Kenya, and Uganda in the normal course of his duties for the purpose of conferring with the Governments of those Dependencies on various local agricultural problems, including those mentioned by the hon. Member.
