asked the President of the Board of Trade whether his attention has been directed to the continued increase in the cost of living; and whether any action is being taken?

The average of the cost-of-living index numbers prepared by the Ministry of Labour was nearly 3 per cent. higher last year than in 1935. The rise is largely due to increases in the world prices of certain foodstuffs.
