§ Major TryonI assume that the hon. Member has in mind payments for the air conveyance of mails despatched from this country. The total payment to Imperial Airways, Limited, in respect of such mails during the year 1936 was £259,000; and to other air companies, or to postal administrations maintaining air services, £185,000. Of this latter sum, £69,000 was paid for the use of British or other Empire air services.
