HC Deb 23 December 1937 vol 330 c2140
22. Mr. Thorne

asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Board of Education how many education authorities have made complaints about the increases in the costs of school requisites; and whether the Government are paying any of the extra cost?

Mr. Lindsay

The Board have received no such complaints from local education authorities. If the authorities' expenditure on school requisites is in fact increased in consequence of a rise in prices, the Board's grant to the authorities in respect of such expenditure is proportionately increased.
