HC Deb 23 December 1937 vol 330 cc2133-4
10. Mr. Ellis Smith

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether he has considered the correspondence forwarded to him by the hon. Member for Stoke dealing with the decision of the Longton magistrates to send a boy of 10 years of age to an approved school; is he aware that the representative of the education committee advised against the course adopted, and that it was stated that the Home Office advice was against the decision; and what action he intends to take?

The Secretary of State for the Home Department (Sir Samuel Hoare)

On receipt of the correspondence, I caused inquiries to be made which have only just been completed. I have not yet been able fully to consider the case, but as soon as I have done so I will communicate with the hon. Member.
