§ 19. Mr. Dayasked the First Lord of the Admiralty the number of ships in the Navy at present driven by coal power; and whether any of these ships have been using pulverised fuel?
Mr. CooperExcluding small auxiliary craft such as trawlers and drifters, there are at present 50 vessels of the Royal Navy fitted to burn coal. None of them is fitted to burn pulverised coal.
Mr. CooperI think that such experiments as have been made have already convinced the authorities that pulverised coal is not desirable as a fuel.
