HC Deb 21 December 1937 vol 330 cc1769-70
45. Mr. Mander

asked the Prime Minister whether he will endeavour to arrange that the Defence Departments, when considering the question of taking over land shall either enter into agreements under Section 33 of the Town and Country Planning Act, 1932, or consult and co- operate with the local authorities to the utmost possible extent, and that, in any case, there shall be inter-departmental consultation and consultation with the local authority or relevant planning authority with regard to the layout, design, and materials of buildings, with the object of securing conformity with the requirements of local planning schemes, as far as possible?

The Prime Minister (Mr. Chamberlain)

My right hon. Friend the Minister of Health is in consultation with the Service Departments with a view to considering how far the object referred to by the hon. Member can be attained without prejudice to the interests of National Defence.
