HC Deb 20 December 1937 vol 330 cc1608-9
65. Mr. Thorne

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department how many men were killed in the explosion at the Ely Paper Mills, Cardiff, on Tuesday, and what was the cause of the accident?

The Under-Secretary of State for the Home Department (Mr. Geoffrey Lloyd)

My right hon. Friend has received a preliminary report on this unfortunate accident in which three men were killed and two others injured, but he is not yet in a position to make any statement as to its causation, which will be the subject of an inquiry by the Board of Trade under the Boiler Explosions Act.
