HC Deb 16 December 1937 vol 330 cc1339-40
76. Mr. De la Bère

asked the Postmaster-General what action he proposes to take regarding the decision of a cinema group to instal a big screen television apparatus at certain cinemas in order to show the British Broadcasting Corporation programmes to their audiences?

The Assistant Postmaster-General (Sir Walter Womersley)

As no proposals have been laid before me, I cannot say what action may be appropriate.

Mr. De la Bère

Arising out of that answer, will the Minister bear in mind, when the proposals are put forward, that the British Broadcasting Corporation does require a certain amount of consideration?

Sir W. Womersley

Yes, Sir. I will also bear in mind what they said on 7th May.

Mr. Day

For the information of the House, will the Minister tell us what they did say on 7th May?
