asked the First Lord of the Admiralty whether he will give consideration to lowering the age at which marriage allowances are given to ratings?

Mr. Cooper

It is not considered to be in the interests of the Naval Service or of the men themselves to encourage Naval ratings to marry below the age of 25. I do not propose, therefore, to lower the qualifying age for marriage allowance in the Navy.
