HC Deb 14 December 1937 vol 330 cc962-3
40. Mr. Short

asked the Secretary to the Overseas Trade Department the reason why exporters are not permitted to use packing straw when consigning goods to America?

The Parliamentary Secretary to the Board of Trade (Captain Euan Wallace)

I have been asked to reply. Regulations have been made by the United States Government regarding the treatment of packing straw from countries declared by the United States Department of Agriculture not to be free from infection. I will have a summary of the regulations sent to the hon. Member.
