HC Deb 14 December 1937 vol 330 cc960-1
15. Colonel Sandeman Allen

asked the President of the Board of Trade whether, in the negotiations for a trading agreement between the United Kingdom and the United States of America, he will endeavour to ensure that the interests of British shipping are adequately safeguarded?

Mr. Stanley

The necessity for safeguarding the interests of British shipping is constantly in mind, but I do not anticipate that the negotiations for a trade agreement between the United Kingdom and the United States of America will embrace shipping questions.
