14. Mr. A. Henderson

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether conversations are now taking place between the Italian Government and His Majesty's Government through His Majesty's Ambassador in Rome with a view to the improvement of relations between Italy and this country; and whether he is in a position to make a statement?

Mr. Eden

I am not at present in a position to make any statement on this subject.

Mr. Henderson

Is it intended to have these negotiations?

I am afraid that I cannot add to my answer.
