HC Deb 22 April 1937 vol 322 c1916
56. Lieut.-Colonel Moore

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland whether he is aware of the tendency among Scottish poultry breeders to reconsider the desirability of organising a marketing scheme for poultry breeders in Scotland; and whether, in the event of a scheme being evolved for Scotland, it will be possible to accord Scotland the benefits of protection under the Agricultural Marketing Acts?

The Under-Secretary of State for Scotland (Mr. Wedderburn)

I understand that the Scottish National Poultry Council, among other bodies, have the question of egg marketing under consideration. As regards the latter part of the question, my hon. and gallant Friend will appreciate that, while I could not make any statement on a hypothetical question, it would be impracticable for the Government to take action necessarily affecting the whole of the United Kingdom following on the promotion of a scheme limited to Scotland.
