HC Deb 21 April 1937 vol 322 cc1750-1
53. Mr. Day

asked the Minister of Transport whether he is aware that there is no omnibus service from the terminus at Hillingdon Church to the Hillingdon County Hospital, Middlesex, which necessitates out-patients attending this hospital daily walking long distances; and causes many of them to rest by the wayside or collapse on arrival at the hospital; and will he make representations to the omnibus authorities serving this district, asking them to continue the omnibus service to this hospital during certain hours?

Mr. Hore-Belisha

The board have informed the councils concerned that they are prepared to make application for a route between Uxbridge and West Drayton passing the hospital, as soon as the roads are suitable for omnibus operation.

Mr. Day

In the meantime, will the Minister make representations to the hospital authorities to transport people who have broken limbs or are in severe pain, between the bus terminus and the hospital?

Mr. Hore-Belisha

I will draw the attention of all concerned to the hon. Member's question.

Mr. Day

Will the Minister suggest that the hospital should use its ambulance in these special circumstances?
