§ 3. Mr. Dugganasked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether he can give the House the latest information regarding the case of Messrs. Edward Anthony Ashton and J. W. Webster, two British subjects now in custody in Bolivia; and whether he is arranging for the communication from His Majesty's Minister at La Paz on the subject to be forwarded by the most rapid means of transit, in view of the fact that these men have been in custody for a long period?
§ Mr. EdenI am in telegraphic communication with His Majesty's representative at La Paz on this subject, and anticipate no delay in receiving information from him. My latest information is that these gentlemen have still failed to obtain provisional liberty owing to the magnitude of the bail required. I understand, however, that another lawyer has now taken over the defence.
