§ 70. Mr. Kellyasked the Financial Secretary to the Treasury whether any or all of the 10,000 posts in the Civil Service to be filled by ex-service men are to be new posts, or whether they will be posts already existing and at present occupied; and, if the former, what will be the anticipated percentage of new posts?
§ Lieut.-Colonel ColvilleI would refer the hon. Member to the answers which I gave on 6th April to the hon. Member for Shipley (Mr. Creech Jones) and on 8th April to the hon. Member for Wednesbury (Mr. Banfield).
§ Mr. KellyDid that reply indicate whether there are new posts or whether these men are going to take up positions now occupied by others?
§ Lieut.-Colonel ColvilleThe answer which I gave indicated that it would not in any way prejudice the tenure of the 1181 posts now held. It was expected that there would be a certain expansion. I cannot give the exact percentage.
§ Mr. G. GriffithsWill the men who were enlisted under the Derby Scheme and who were not allowed to go out to the front, be included in those 10,000?
§ Lieut.-Colonel ColvilleI think that is another question.
