HC Deb 14 April 1937 vol 322 c1013
34. Mr. T. Williams (for Mr. Paling)

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies whether he has considered the petition dated 25th January, 1937, submitted by the North Kavirondo Central Association, to be presented to this House, praying inter alia that ex-chief Mumia may be made the paramount chief of Kavirondo; and what action he proposes to take thereon?

Mr. Ormsby-Gore

A petition was sent to me with a request that I should submit it to this House. As, however, the form in which it had been prepared was not in accordance with the Rules of this House governing the presentation of petitions, I requested the Governor to return it to the signatories and to remind them of the correct form and procedure, which had already been explained to them.
