HC Deb 14 April 1937 vol 322 c1010
78. Commander Locker-Lampson

asked the Home Secretary how many burglaries have taken place in London and the Home Counties during the past five years; and what number of these have resulted in the conviction of the criminal?

Mr. Lloyd

I regret that it has not been possible within the time available to compile the statistical information available on the subject, but I will send it to my hon. and gallant Friend as soon as it has been compiled.

Commander Locker-Lampson

Is the hon. Member aware that 75 per cent. of the burglars are not caught?

Mr. Thorne

Will the hon. Member be good enough to let it be known that it will be no good any burglars coming to hon. Members on this side of the House?

Mr. Macquisten

Is the hon. Member aware that owing to the time that is taken up by the police challenging motorists and visiting night clubs, they have no time to look after burglaries?
