HC Deb 12 April 1937 vol 322 c607
43. Mr. R. Acland

asked the Minister of Agriculture whether his attention has been drawn to the statement in the annual report of the Food Council that the potato crop has been reduced in three years by 81,000 acres; and what action he proposes to take?

Mr. W. S. Morrison

I would refer the hon. Member to the reply I gave on 8th April to questions on this subject.

Mr. Macquisten

How does the right hon. Gentlemen expect people to take the trouble to grow potatoes if they are to be harassed by the Marketing Board, and if the only people who get any benefit are the people who work for the board?

Mr. Morrison

That is not the fact. The fact remains that they are growing potatoes.
