HC Deb 08 April 1937 vol 322 cc355-6
76. Mr. Leckie

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether he is aware that positive film prints are now being imported into this country from the United States of America, and duped here into negatives, from which an unlimited number of copies can then be printed; and whether he will take steps to stop this method of evasion of Customs duty?

Mr. Chamberlain

I am aware that imported positive cinematograph films can be used for the production of negatives from which further positives can be printed. The position is being borne in mind.
