HC Deb 06 April 1937 vol 322 c31
55 and 56. Sir Robert Bird

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer (1) whether he is aware of the great anxiety felt by those members of the Pharmaceutical Society who are engaged in trade over the recommendations in the report of the Select Committee on Medicine Stamp Duties; and whether it is his intention to introduce legislation implementing the recommendations wholly or in part;

(2) what steps it is his intention to take for terminating the loss to the revenue consequent upon the avoidance of the payment of Medicine Stamp Duties which is disclosed in the report of the Select Committee on Medicine Stamp Duties?

Mr. Chamberlain

I can assure my hon. Friend that due weight will be given to all relevant considerations in connection with the Committee's report, but I regret I am unable, at present, to make any further statement on the matter.
