HC Deb 06 April 1937 vol 322 c14
20. Mr. Turton

asked the Minister of Agriculture whether he will announce the steps the Government propose to take to secure that the productivity of agricultural land in this country is improved?

Mr. Ramsbotham

My right hon. Friend is not in a position to make any further statement on agricultural policy at the present time.

Mr. Paling

Are we to understand that agriculture has reached its maximum productivity under Capitalism?

Viscountess Astor

Will my hon. Friend see to it that our agricultural policy is not based upon a theory which is really Socialistic; which has one foot in Socialism and one foot in Capitalism, neither of which will work?

Mr. Thorne

What does the Noble Lady know about Socialism?

Sir Edmund Findlay

Is it to be assumed from the reply of the Minister that the question of oats is to be further shelved?
