asked the Under-Secretary of State for India whether he will state, from the information in his possession, the number of films the exhibition of which have been prohibited in India during the two years ended to the last convenient date and the country of origin of those films?

Mr. BUTLER

The number of films banned in British India by one of more local governments during the period 1st August, 1934, to 31st July, 1936, was 40. Of these 18 were produced in the United States of America, 17 in India, four in the United Kingdom and one in Italy.
