HC Deb 30 November 1936 vol 318 c827
29. Mr. De CHAIR

asked the Minister of Agriculture whether he is aware that the Brewers' Society has announced that there is not enough home-grown malting barley available for their requirements this year; whether he is satisfied that this is the case; and, if so, what are the sources of his information as to the available stocks?

Mr. W. S. MORRISON

I understand that the Brewers' Society have informed the Import Duties Advisory Committee that there is a possibility that there will not be a sufficient quantity of good quality home-grown malting barley for the requirements of brewers this season, and that the Committee are making inquiries into the matter. I am not in a position to make any statement at present.
