§ 29. Mr. De CHAIRasked the Minister of Agriculture whether he is aware that the Brewers' Society has announced that there is not enough home-grown malting barley available for their requirements this year; whether he is satisfied that this is the case; and, if so, what are the sources of his information as to the available stocks?
§ Mr. W. S. MORRISONI understand that the Brewers' Society have informed the Import Duties Advisory Committee that there is a possibility that there will not be a sufficient quantity of good quality home-grown malting barley for the requirements of brewers this season, and that the Committee are making inquiries into the matter. I am not in a position to make any statement at present.
