HC Deb 25 November 1936 vol 318 c417
42. Mr. FOOT

asked the Minister of Transport whether he has considered the case submitted to him by the Dundee Town Council in support of the project for a road bridge over the Tay; and whether he has reached any decision on this matter?

The MINISTER of TRANSPORT (Mr. Hore-Belisha)

Yes, Sir, but I am precluded from pursuing the matter further at the present time for the same reasons which led to the Government's decision on the schemes for the construction of bridges over the Forth, Humber and Severn, and I am so informing the local authorities.

Mr. FOOT

Are we to understand from that reply that all projects of national development, however necessary, are to be held up indefinitely?

Mr. HORE-BELISHA

No, Sir.
